It's been said that if you put a camera on a monkey's head during a wedding and set the camera to fire every three seconds, you'll get at least one or two really good shots during the day. And that's pretty true. Even the most unskilled amateur photographer will get a couple of good ones.

What the monkey can't do, however, is get dozens and dozens of good shots. That takes a skilled photographer. As an added bonus, most skilled photographers won't poop all over the guests.

What the monkey really can't do is go through all those shots, pick out the best ones, and assemble them into a beautiful wedding album. If you've read my Weddings Page you know that I think that's the most important part of the wedding photographer's job.

So, when you're evaluating photographers, ask to see an entire wedding album. Don't let them show you one shot from this one, two shots from that one. A wedding consists of many different phases, see if the photographer can capture all of them and produce a high-quality album that tells the story of the day.

In that spirit, here's an entire 40-page wedding album, complete with cover, for you to see. Click on the album cover to pop up a separate window
